A 15-year-old marriage between one Grace Oladejo and her husband Moshood was on Thursday dissolved by an Ile-Ife Customary Court sitting in Osun State over constant beating and lack of care.

Delivering judgement, the President of the court, Mr Ganiyu Awoyera, said the union stands dissolved, adding that there would be no refund of bride price.

The president of the court awarded custody of the two children to the petitioner, and urged her to take them to government hospital whenever any of them fell sick.
Awoyera also ordered the husband to pay the sum of N3, 000 every month per child for the upkeep of the children as well as take full responsibility for their education.

The court urged both parties to maintain the peace and keep away from trouble henceforth.

The petitioner, Grace had on Sept. 2 appealed to the court to dissolve 15-year-old union to her husband Moshood for alleged uncooperative attitude and maltreatment.

Grace said she married her husband in 2000 and the union was blessed with two children namely, Segun, 11, and Mofun Oluwa, one and half years.
According to Grace, her husband right from the inception of the marriage her husband had never cared for her and the children.

"I have no peace of mind since I married him; that was the reason why I packed out of his house in July 18, 2014.

"I beg the court to separate us so as to have peace of mind and to be able to take good care of my children," she pleaded with the court.

Tragedy struck in Yalwawa Quarters in Dutse, the Jigawa state capital, after a 300 level student of the Federal University in the state, Bashir Musa was killed while fighting over a girlfriend.

Trouble started last Friday when the deceased girlfriend, Aisha Sale, a student of Jigawa state Polytechnic who is alleged to be dating six others from the same university paid one of her boyfriend a visit in Yalwawa Quarters in Dutse.

It was learnt that the other boys including Musa who got wind of her visit stormed the house of the other boyfriend and a fight broke out leading to the death of the deceased.

Reacting to the incident, the Registrar of the university, Yusuf Ademu in a statement said the institution will make its position known to the public when the police are done with their investigation.

Confirming the tragedy, the Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Abdul Jinjiri noted that investigations revealed that the deceased died after a scuffle over a girlfriend.

Republican businessman Matt Bevin was elected Kentucky's next governor on Tuesday, marking a setback for Democrats who had controlled the office in every election but one since 1971 and underscoring the party's decline in the conservative U.S. South.

Bevin, who rode Tea Party support to a narrow victory in a four-way Republican primary, soundly defeated State Attorney General Jack Conway, whose late October lead in the polls evaporated on election day.

" This is a chance for a fresh start ," said Bevin at his victory event, calling his candidacy an opportunity to change traditional politics. " It truly is, and we desperately need it. "

Republicans also were successful in securing a second term for Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant, who easily defeated a little-known opponent in the conservative Southern state.

Kentucky's more hotly contested race reflected the partisan divide seen nationally over gay marriage and President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law in a contest to replace Democratic Governor Steve Beshear, who cannot run because of term limits.

Bevin, who has never before held elected office, won with 52.5 percent of the vote, compared to 43.8 percent for Conway, according to unofficial results with all precincts reporting.

His path to victory included courting religious conservatives after meeting with embattled Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis after she was jailed for defying a federal judge's order to issue marriage licenses to gay couples.

" I am ecstatic ," Davis said in a statement released by her attorneys at the conservative Liberty Counsel, adding that Bevin had prayed for her. " I will be forever thankful that he came to visit me while I was in jail ."

While Tea Party leaders celebrated a win for Bevin, a conservative known to challenge establishment Republicans, he also benefited from a late infusion of cash from the Republican Governors Association. The organization said it poured $2.5 million into the state during the final two weeks of the campaign and spent a total of $6 million on the race.

Bevin had pledged to roll back the expansion of Medicaid to provide health coverage to the poor under Obama's health plan as started by the current governor, which Conway had supported.

Although Kentucky voters routinely send Republicans to Washington, D.C., experts thought Conway had the advantage going into election day, given Democrats' enduring state-level strength in recent decades.

Bevin's lieutenant governor, Jenean Hampton, becomes the first African American elected to statewide office in Kentucky.

In Mississippi, Republicans also celebrated widely expected victories for party incumbents.

Gov. Bryant defeated truck driver Robert Gray, the surprise victor of a Democratic primary in which he did not spend money or seriously campaign. His low-budget campaign reflected the sorry state of the Mississippi Democratic Party, observers said.

Still, Democrats held off a challenge to one of the party's last statewide elected officers in the Deep South. Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood won a fourth term in office, with his opponent conceding late Tuesday night.

I had thought that being a graduate would mean all my worries were over, but to my surprise it was as though jobs were running from me. Just when I was about to give up, an old friend recommended me for a job; to replace her colleague who was going on leave. I was hungry to make it, and determined to prove to people that I could be something after all. My employers saw it in me - the career drive that can send an innocent lady to do anything possible - and thats how I felt.

Now it dawns on me that although I had risen in my career, I feel like I've fallen so low. 

I didnt have a choice- it was either that or nothing. You have to go the extra mile to get more out of life, my boss used to tell me. Other times he would say sacrifices are part of business prove to me you are worthy of this promotion; that you can do anything, no matter what it takes, to get what you want.

He never cared about the repercussions as he saw us as tools that can be sent out and used all because of an extra client in his pocket. I simply couldnt see it, as I was blinded by pressure and the desire to prove myself.  Sometimes I would return home with tears in my eyes, unable to let people know what I went through to get to where I was. Thats how my life has been. I had to grow, I had to be relevant, I had to do it because I didnt have a choice.

The former governors screening and confirmation was surrounded by controversy due to a petition raised against him by PDP Senators from his state citing allegations of corruption levelled against him.

Senator members of the PDP staged a walk out after Amaechi was confirmed to register their disapproval of the decision.

The Senate has confirmed all of President Muhammadu Buharis 36 ministerial nominees but they are yet to be sworn in.

The Vatican said on Monday two members of a commission that Pope Francis set up to study Church reforms had been arrested on suspicion of leaking confidential documents the media.

Spanish priest Lucio Angel Vallejo Balda and a laywoman, Francesca Chaouqui, were arrested over the weekend, a statement said. Chaouqui was released on Monday after she agreed to cooperate with the investigation, the Vatican said.

The arrests came just days before two Italian authors were due to release books that their publishers say will reveal new evidence of past scandals in the Vatican.

After a Russian plane crashed on Friday, The Synagogue Church Of All Nations, in its usual manner announced that their founder, TB Joshua predicted the crash.

According to the religious institution, on Sunday 31st August 2014, TB Joshua warned of an impending plane crash involving Russia.

> It will not be between Ukraine and Russia this time but a close region, a neighbouring region, he stated, warning passenger planes to be careful of the routes they take over such volatile areas. I am seeing a full load of passengers crash again, he declared.

A Russian passenger plane has crashed early Saturday in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, killing all 224 people aboard.

Russian state media reported that many of the 224 passengers on Kogalymavia Flight 9268 were Russians returning from vacation. The passenger manifest included 17 children but Russian officials said there were 25 aboard and seven crew members.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin tweeted that four victims were also Ukrainian nationals.

The cause of the crash still is unknown, but it is most likely due to a technical failure, and there is no evidence of any terrorist action, Egyptian Airports Co. chief Adel Al-Mahjoob told CNN Arabic.

But express.co.uk is reporting that ISIS have claimed the attack, saying they are responsible for it via a twitter handle. See more photos from the crash after the cut. really sad.
